Nicola's story

I have given blood since I was 18 and now I donate platelets at the National Blood Centre based near St. James's Hospital. Like many others I started because my dad is a donor.

Once a month I go to clinic and for an hour I have peace and quite, I read the paper, sometimes I watch a dvd and I catch up on the local news - I have even been known to get a tip on a horse!

All I have to do in return is show up and squeeze a ball in my fist. It is a pleasure to be around such caring people and I am helping someone in need. Nicola
