Age
You must be at least 18 years of age and under 65 years to give blood for the first time.
If you are aged between 65 and 70 years (up to but not including your 70th birthday) and you have donated in the past 10 years, you can give blood.
If you are between 70 and 79 years you may be eligible to return to donate blood if:
- You have given blood within the last 2 years before your 70th birthday.
- You have an up to date letter from your GP stating your fitness to donate, and including a list of your medical conditions and current medication (if any). (*Please bring this letter with you each time you attend to donate). This letter is required to be renewed annually.

The maximum age for a donor to give blood is 79.
